Actually, all specialists of the GBT Group agreed: to cover a dilapidated roof with an area of 2000m² in 9 days and to re-cover it at the same time is not easily feasible. And yet a must, to which the customer APC from Jordan attached the highest importance.
The reason for this is simple: the hot thickener is the heart of APC's plant in Safi, the world's fourth largest manufacturer of fertilizers. This tank supplies 6 downstream crystallizers. A single crystallizer can be shut down and refurbished without interrupting the production process, but this is not possible with the hot thickener tank. If it stops, the entire plant must cease operation.
GBT Group was not only tasked with the re- and dismantling of the roof, but also with optimizing the existing design of the roof and finally with the manufacturing of the roof.
What had not been considered possible in advance was brought to a successful conclusion due to precise pre-planning and a mammoth performance of the GBT/Group teams on site. After 9 days, the hot thickener tank could be handed back to the customer for further operation.
